Children’s Day Programme at Maria Bhavan
12TH MAR, 16

“Let us sacrifice our today so that our children can have a better tomorrow.”
- A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Dear friends, as we all know that 22nd November 2015 was indeed an important one in the liturgical year. On that day, we celebrated the Feast of the Christ the King liturgically which marked the end of the ordinary time in the liturgical year calendar and made us to prepare for the advent which invites us to equip ourselves spiritually to receive our Lord Jesus Christ. Besides this, we, the community fathers and brothers of Montfort Fathers in Bengaluru, organized children’s day for the under-privileged children about seventy from different orphanages run by religious fathers and sisters.

Our Master Jesus Christ had always a special love for children, that is why when the disciples stopped children from coming to Him, he said, “Let the children come to me for theirs is the Kingdom of God.” Therefore we very happily have organized children’s day as we usually do every year at Maria Bhavan, depending on the providence of God. It was a day filled with lot of preparation, laughter and blessed with good weather.

We began the programme with the inaugural message by Fr. Selva Kumar SMM, the Rector of Maria Bhavan. Our brothers indeed took an active participation in conducting different group activities and games to build up the confidence of these young students and to make them feel at home with us and to give hope for their future. This lasted till noon. At noon we had lunch together with children in which we could see the beautiful smiles on their faces and this brought us great joy. We had a colorful cultural programme of dancing, singing and it was inaugurated with a great inspiring message by Fr. Richard SMM who spoke to them on hope for the future and children were indeed taken up by that. Our special guest Fr. Raja Rao SMM, the provincial, made his presence felt in the programme for the children and after the programme our Rector and the president of Vincent De Paul Society joined us to distribute the gifts.

Towards evening came the time of sadness because we had to say good-bye to each other after the tea break. The day was enjoyed much and children were very happy with the gifts and throughout the day the safety of the children was assured by brothers and volunteers. Bro. Ravi and Bro. Bala Raj were in charge to organize the programme in collaboration with other brothers. We thank whole heartedly all the benefactors for the children’s day programme. Let us once again remember that children are always loved by God. Let us love them and help them for their better future.
